Gina began working with clay in England, as a hobby, about 10 years ago. She worked as an IT development manager in England before moving to Cary in 2002, when her husband was transferred. Gina has taken advantage of the hiatus in her high-tech career to concentrate more fully on her pottery.
Although interested in a wide variety of ceramic objects, Gina is continually inspired by the inherent difficulty of successfully creating large sculptural forms. In addition to large decorative items, Gina also creates small, functional pottery. Born in Zambia, Gina often incorporates the influence of African art and culture into her work. Gina also is inspired by and enjoys collecting the work of famous North Carolina potters, such as the late Sid Oakley, Ben Owen III, and Vernon and Pamela Owens.
